Dear friends in Christ Jesus,
Greetings from Fr. Sanish Mathew.
Hope and pray that you are doing well and getting ready to receive the Holy Spirit on this feast of Pentecost. May the Spirit of the Lord guide you where ever you go. Coming to the readings of today we have the beautiful narration in the Acts as well as in the gospel of John where it says, “they were all in one place together.” To receive the Holy Spirit we need to be together in one place, not to be scattered. It represents oneness or unity as it’s main criteria to receive the Holy Spirit from above. This “one place” can be your church, your family, your office, your classroom, your playground or even when we are under the same protective hands of God with one mind and heart. All the readings of the past one week explains all about this Christian unity.
As we are getting ready for this Feast of Pentecost, let us examine ourselves and see whether we maintain this unity among ourselves? Do we really work for this unity among our community? Between our family relationships? Between our daily dealings with others?
When we blame each other for no reason, when we try only to find faults with others, when we judge others on the basis of our pride and prejudices, we stand against this Christian unity where all our prayers and spiritual practices would become meaningless.
Therefore, today, as we are celebrating this feast of Pentecost, let us take a good resolution to maintain the presence of the Holy Spirit among us by bringing Christian unity within our personal lives.
May God be with you all and His Holy Spirit guide us all.
With love and prayers,
Fr. Sanish Mathew HGN
